The Miami American Airlines Arena

Often referred to as the 'Triple A', the American Airlines Arena has a giant aircraft painted on the top of the arena's roof. The American Airlines logo is placed in the center of this picture. The design can be seen from the air to airplanes who are taking off and landing at the Miami International Airport (located nearby).

The American Airlines Arena is Miami 's largest arena venue with a capacity of up to 20,000 people. No wonder the Pop Music world would gravitate towards this setting for the MTV Video Music Awards show. It is known best as the living room to the NBA's Miami Heat, and hosts numerous special events and concerts as well. Opening with a bang on New Years Eve 1999 (the Millennium Spectacular) with special guest and Miami 's own, Gloria Estefan.

Some of the biggest stars in the entertainment business flock to the stage of the AAA. Amongst those are Elton John, U2, Bette Midler, Britney Spears, the Rolling Stones, and Paul McCartney.

The Latin Grammy's, the Greatest Show on Earth (Ringling Bro's) and the MTV Video Music Awards last year are other spectacles that have graced the stage at the American Airlines Arena. At one time it was the home court to the Miami Sol; they are no longer a working team. The auditorium is located in downtown Miami , which has become a new hot spot for nighttime entertainment.
